Rosie O'Donnell, TV icon and New York theatre's best cheerleader, paid a visit to Well March 29th at the Longacre Theatre. Well began previews March 10th and opens March 30th.
Well is an original comedic play written by Lisa Kron and directed by Leigh Silverman. Well stars Lisa Kron (Lisa), Daniel Breaker (Jim, and others), Saidah Arrika Ekulona (Kay, and others), John Hoffman (Nurse, and others), Jayne Houdyshell (Ann), and Christina Kirk (Joy, and othes).
Ben Brantley of "The New York Times" says Well is "wonderful and delirious, with plenty of bright one-liners and priceless tales of embarassment. This deeply affecting show has a warmth to it that makes you want to recommend it to everyone."
Well's performance schedule is Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7:00PM; Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8:00PM; Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2:00PM and Sundays 3:00PM. The Longacre Theatre is located at 220 West 48th Street, New York City.
O'Donnell most recently appeared as Golde in the recent Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof; she had previously appeared on Broadway in Seussical (as The Cat in the Hat) and in Grease (as Rizzo). "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," which for years promoted Broadway musicals and performers to its wide TV audience, is reportedly headed to DVD.
