Many of New York City and the country's most renowned dancers and dance companies performed on Monday, April 18 at 7:30pmat The Joyce Theater (175 8th Avenue), where the NYC Dance Alliance Foundation presented DESTINY RISING, an evening of dance artistry to benefit the NYC Dance Alliance Foundation College Scholarship Program (which to date has awarded over $17 million in college scholarships to over 300 dancers all over the country). Directed by NYCDA Foundation Founder/Executive Director Joe Lanteri, performers included renowned dancers Tiler Peck & Robert Fairchild of NYC Ballet & the Broadway production of An American in Paris. The evening also featured special performances from prominent professional dance companies from across the United States including The Francesca Harper Project, Rioult Dance NY, the Conservatory Dance Company (of Point Park University), Marymount Manhattan College Dance Company & the Illinois' Inspire School of Dance. Some of the choreographers whose work was showcased on 4/18 includedAlexandra Damiani, Anne Forrest, Francesca Harper, Katie Langan, Martha Nichols, Andy Pellick, Brooke Pierotti, Pascal Rioult & Liam Scarlett.
There was also over $50k in college scholarships awarded on April 18th.
