Photo Flash: Remembering Anne Jackson

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Anne Jackson, who was nominated for a Tony in 1956 for MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT and who enjoyed a long career with her husband, Eli Wallach, died Tuesday, April 12, in Manhattan. She was 90.

Best known for her work with Wallach, who passed away in 2014, the actress appeared alongside her husband in works by Shaw, Chekhov, Tennessee Williams, Eugene Ionesco and Murray Schisgal.

According to The New York Times, the duo took the stage "together 13 times on Broadway, seven times Off Broadway, and occasionally in movies and on television, where they did most of their work...in the later years of their careers," with credits in TV shows such as LAW & ORDER and ER.

Jackson started her Broadway career in THE NEW MOON, THE CHERRY ORCHARD, SIGNATURE, KING HENRY VIII, WHAT EVERY WOMAN KNOWS, JOHN GABRIEL BORKMAN, A POUND ON DEMAND / ANDROCLES AND THE LION, YELLOW JACK, THE LAST DANCE, SUMMER AND SMOKE, MAGNOLIA ALLEY and LOVE ME LONG in the mid-to-late 1940s.

In the '50s, she appeared on the Great White Way in THE LADY FROM THE SEA, ARMS AND THE MAN, NEVER SAY NEVER, OH, MEN! OH, WOMEN! and MAJOR BARBARA, as well as her celebrated turn as 'The Daughter' in MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.

Throughout the '60s and '70s she was seen onstage in RHINOCEROS, LUV, THE EXERCISE, INQUEST, PROMENADE, ALL! and THE WALTZ OF THE TOREADORS, and went on to star in TWICE AROUND THE PARK, CAFE CROWN, LOST IN YONKERS and finally THE FLOWERING PEACH in the '80s and '90s.

Jackson is survived by her daughters, Roberta and Katherine, her son, Peter, her sister, Beatrice Marz, three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
