The national tour of Pippin, presented by Goodspeed Musicals, launched with a star-studded cast party.
The production, which previously played the Goodspeed Opera House, played a one-night engagement in West Point, NY on October 7th. It then began in Wilmington, DE on October 10th. It concludes in Philadelphia in January of 2007.
Featuring James Royce Edwards (Altar Boyz, Hairspray) as Lewis, Micky Dolenz (The Monkees, Aida) as Charlemagne, Andre Ward (Saturday Night Fever) as the Leading Player, Barbara Marineau (The Women, Beauty and the Beast) as Berthe, Shannon Lewis (Sweet Charity) as Fastrada, Teal Wicks as Catherine, and Joshua Park (The Adventures of Tom Sawyer) in the title role, the production also features Sara Antkowiak-Maier, Jason Blaine, Stephen Brotebeck, Jason Dougherty, Dell Howlett, Ryan Patrick Kelly, Karl Maier, Lauren Marshall, Candy Olsen, Vincent Rodriguez III, Molly Tynes, and Dana Winkle, among others.
"A surprise waits around every corner as Pippin wanders through the worlds of politics, love and war before finding his true calling — home and family," state notes for the show, which features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Roger O. Hirson and Bob Fosse. Gabriel Barre (The Wild Party) directs, and Mark Dendy is choreographer.
