Once Upon a Time in New Jersey, a new musical, received its world premiere at the Marriott Theatre in Chicago on July 12th, after beginning previews on July 5th.

The musical is the winner of the Richard Rodgers Award for Best New Musical and The Global Search Award Winner for Best New Musical in Cardiff, Wales. "Swing back to 1956 'Joisy.' An ordinary deli...not your ordinary hero! Sweet deli-man Vinnie loves Angie. Adorable deli-gal Angie loves Rocco. Womanizing Rocco loves Celeste. And sexy Celeste's thug of a husband loves to break legs," state notes on the show, which features book and lyrics by Kleban Foundation Award-winner Susan DiLallo and music by Jonathan Larson Award-winner Stephen Weiner.

Once Upon a Time in New Jersey stars Jim Weitzer (The Phantom of the Opera, Little Women) as Vinnie, Will Swenson (Lestat) as Rocco, and Kathy Voytko (Oklahoma!, Nine, Evita tour) as Angie. Marc Robin directs.
