The Plaza Hotel in New York City hosted guests representing the beauty, media, medical, pharmaceutical and retail industries attended the 2012 Skin Cancer Foundation Gala on October 9. The annual event honored Genentech,PGA TOUR and Lucy Danziger, Editor-in-Chief of SELF Magazine. Honorees received Skin Sense Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievements in skin health, including public education about sun protection and skin cancer prevention.

Richard Kaminski and Suzanne Leeds Fishman presented the Skin Sense Award to Rick Fair, MBA (Vice President of Oral Oncolytics, Genentech), who accepted on Genentech’s behalf. Mr. Kaminski is a metastatic melanoma patient who was treated with Genentech’s drug Zelobraf™. Ms. Leeds Fishman, an advanced basal cell carcinoma patient, was treated with Erivedge™, also developed by Genentech.
Victor Ganzi (Chairman of the Board, PGA TOUR) presented the Skin Sense Award to Allison Keller (Senior Vice President, Human Resources, PGA TOUR), who accepted on the TOUR’s behalf.

Katie Lee and EXTRA TV CorrespondentJerry Penacoli. Chelsea Price, a young woman with melanoma, also shared her story with the audience. Ms. Price is featured in The Skin Cancer Foundation’s Sun Smart U curriculum.
