The New York City Gay Men's Chorus kicked off their 27th season with their annual holiday homecoming to Carnegie Hall, "The New York City Gay Men's Chorus Holiday Spectacular!," on Monday, December 11th at 8:00PM.
NYCGMC's special guest stars for the evening were Tony Award-nominees Charles Busch (The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Vampire Lesbians of Sodom) and Michael McElroy (Big River, Rent). The evening also featured the world-premiere of the fabulous new all-male high-kicking chorus line, The MENhattans, and the return of the Big Apple Performing Arts' Youth Pride Chorus. NYCGMC is lead by Executive Director David Edelman, and founding Music Director, Gary Miller, who celebrates his 20th season conducting the chorus. The program ranged from from traditional holiday favorites to classical choral works and popular standards.
Gary Miller, embarking on his 20th season with NYCGMC, served as co-music director. He is the organization's founding director and conductor emeritus.
The New York City Gay Men's Chorus is an auditioned, 250-voice male chorus serving the gay community and the greater community at large by the performance of classical and contemporary male choral music as proudly and openly gay men. In addition to their regular subscription series of three annual concert programs, NYCGMC also performs at a variety of local and tri-state area functions, benefits, and performances.
