The celebratory evening took place on Monday, April 24th and honored two integral members of the 20+ year old award-winning and critically-acclaimed theater company and arts education organization - Sally Brown (The Metropolitan Museum of the Art) and Debra Sue Lorenzen (St. Nicks Alliance). Ms. Brown, a founding Board member of the organization formerly titled Making Books Sing, received the 2017 Harmony Award. Ms. Lorenzen, co-founder the organization with Barbara Zinn Krieger, Artistic Director through their friendship that began at Krieger's Vineyard Theater more than 20 years ago, received the 2017 Family of Artists Award.
The Gala welcomed special guest presenter singer/songwriter Steve Miller and was co-hosted by award-winning actor/mime Bill Bowers. The evening included selections from old and new musicals by New York City Children's Theater featuring favored actors of the organization. The Gala was co-chaired by Board members Lisa Glass and Marilyn Yanowitch.
