This past Saturday evening, the youngest living Medal of Honor recipient, Sergeant Dakota Meyer, attended SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark. Bob Cuccioli, who plays Green Goblin, gave the following curtain call speech:
We are so honored and privileged to have a true American hero in our audience tonight-ladies and gentlemen, please give a very warm welcome to the youngest living Medal of Honor recipient, Sergeant Dakota Meyer. Sergeant Meyer, would you please stand up? Two years ago, President Obama bestowed the Medal of Honor on Sergeant Meyer in a special ceremony at the White House. But I don't think you've really been honored until the cast of SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Darkdedicates a performance to you. Sergeant Meyer was fearless on the battlefield - he ignored orders to stay put and fought his way five times into an ambush in an Afghan ravine, helping to rescue three dozen Afghan and American troops and to recover The Remains of four dead American servicemen. Sergeant Meyer has proven himself a hero of the highest order, and for that, we dedicate tonight's performance to him.
