Karen Mason had a good day. It started on a high note when she perused the New York Post and read Liz Smith's rave of her Monday night performance at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Later, when she was about to sing at the Actor's Fund soiree for Darcy Denkert's new book, A FINE ROMANCE, Karen was introduced to the crowd by noneother than the legendary Carol Channing. After mentioning that Ms. Mason's Broadway resume included both Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard and the Spandex-wearing Tanya in Mamma Mia, Carol quipped, "Well how can that be? Those two characters are nothing alike! Just goes to show that Karen is a great actress!"

Mason is preparing for a two-week run of her show, "The Sweetest Of Nights," which coincides with a new cd of the same name. Opening night is Thursday, October 27, and takes place at The Encore (226 West 47th Street).
