As part of a new series of musical concert performances at the Royal Festival Hall, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING made its London concert debut tonight, May 19. BroadwayWorld has a look at the cast onstage below!
Jonathan Groff, Hannah Waddingham and Clive Rowe led the concert, as J. Pierrepont Finch, Hedy La Rue and Twimble respectively. Also in the cast was THE COLOR PURPLE's Cynthia Erivo. Co-produced by concert promoters Senbla and Elliot Davis, the concert featured the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Mike Dixon.
Set in 1960s New York, the musical chronicles the life of J. Pierrepont Finch, a young window cleaner who buys a book about rising up the corporate ladder. With libretto and score by Frank Loesser, this classic Broadway show brings pure entertainment to all.
Last seen on the West End in 1963-1964, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING is a perfect opening to this new series of concert performances. The 1961 musical was revived on Broadway in 1995 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre (where the show originally opened) starring Matthew Broderick and Megan Mullaly, and then again in 2011 starring Daniel Radcliffe and John Larroquette at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Darren Criss succeeded Radcliffe on January 3, 2012 for a limited three-week engagement after which Nick Jonas took over the role of Finch until the show closed in May 2012.
