Jim Caruso's Cast Party never disappoints music lovers - especially if they are fans of the Broadway scene.
This past Monday evening, host Caruso and the Cast Party Symphony Orchestra, led by Billy Stritch, presented dozens of impromptu performances by some of the best theater singers, dancers, and all-round funny people. Bridges of Madison Country cast member Aaron Ramey performed a song from the Jason Robert Brown score, along with two Bridges musicians. Broadway/TV star Michele Lee belted out a standard and thrilled the crowd. Lisa Lampanelli, the "Queen of Mean," brought her very funny pal Luke McCullum to tickle the Cast Party funny bones. Actor/singer Garth Kravits sang a hilarious original song about his non-existent twin. Vegas headliner Clint Holmes scatted and scored high points. His wife Kelly Clinton did the best Cher impression this side of...Cher! YouTube superstar trombone player Chris Bill dazzled the packed house with his musical and technical talents. The three-hour event ended with a tap-off featuring three of the finest tap dancers in the business, Luke Hawkins, Tony Yazbeck and Melinda Sullivan.
Jim Caruso''s Cast Party takes place at 9:30pm every Monday at Birdland, located at 315 West 44 Street in the theater district.
