Top Broadway stars performed at "Brodway Sings for the Children of Honduras," a concert at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia to benefit Amigos de Jesús, a home and safe haven for impoverished children in Honduras.
Julia Murney, Mandy Gonzalez, Brian d'Arcy James, Robin de Jesus, Jennifer Damiano and Taylor Noble dazzled the crowd with beloved songs from Shrek, In the Heights, Wicked, and other classic showtunes. Composer Zoe Sarnak presented two original pieces. The evening was presented by the D'Ambrosio Family and directed by Laura Pietropinto with music direction by Andy Einhorn, violin by Cenovia Cummins and cello by Summer Boggess. Four children and several staff members were flown from Honduras to enjoy and participate in the evening.
The Amigos de Jesus orphanage functions as a school, playground and, most importantly, family for over 100 children living there. It provides them with food, clothing, shelter and education, and empowers them with life and career skills.
