The "Tomatoes Got Talent" show took place on Sunday, March 13, at the Triad on West72nd Street. Randie Levine-Miller, emceed and co-produced the talent show competition featuring women over 40, with Cheryl Benton of The Three Tomatoes.
Top prize went to Kathleen Waters, who by day is a legal secretary. Runners up were Beth Goehring, a book publishing executive; Jane Deeken, a personal assistant to a New York philanthropist and Patrice Richardson, who owns a consignment boutique in East Northport.
For the third year in a row, the judges were show business veterans: Beth Fowler, TonyAward nominated actress/singer, as well as SAG Award winner for "Orange Is the New Black"; Margaret Colin, TV and Stage Actress; and Alyce Finell, co-director of The Mabel Mercer Foundation. Paul Chamlin was Musical Director. Karen Nason, 2014 Tomatoes Got Talent winner, also performed.
This year's winner, Kathleen Waters, along with Karen Nason, 2014 winner and Susan Vardy, last year's winner, will perform in "Randie Levine-Miller's Showstopper Divas" on June 15 at the Triad, along with Lee Roy Reams and Christine Pedi. Net proceeds will benefit the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.
"The bottom line is never give up on your dream," says show co-creator Cheryl Benton, whose popular (and free!) online newsletter, The Three Tomatoes (thethreetomatoes.com) is "The Insider's Guide for Women Who Aren't Kids".
