The world premiere of Randy Newman's "Harps and Angels" opens at the Center Group/Mark Taper Forum at the Los Angeles Music Center on Sunday, November 21 at 7 p.m. Previews are underway and performances continue through December 22, 2010.

Directed by four-time Tony Award-winner Jerry Zaks, the cast of Randy Newman's "Harps and Angels" features (in alphabetical order) Ryder Bach, Storm Large, Adriane Lenox, Michael McKean, Katey Sagal and Matthew Saldivar. The scenic design is by Stephan Olson, costume design by Stephanie Kerley Schwartz, lighting design by Brian Gale, sound design by Philip G. Allen and projection design by Marc I. Rosenthal.  The music director is Michael Roth. Casting is by Laura Stanczyk and the production stage manager is David S. Franklin.

"Harps and Angels" is conceived by Jack Viertel and features music and lyrics by Randy Newman, and musical staging by Warren Carlyle.

Randy Newman's witty, complex, bittersweet and often satirical songbook is at the heart of this new work, which creates a compelling, honest and humorous commentary on what it is like to be born, grow up, fall in love, and live and die in America. Some of the Newman songs that will be featured include "I Think It's Going to Rain Today," "Sail Away," "Marie," "Louisiana 1927," "Feels Like Home," and of course, "I Love L.A.," among many others.

Tickets for "Harps and Angels" are available by calling CTG Audience Services at (213) 628-2772 or online at www.CenterTheatreGroup.org or in person at the CTG box office located at the Ahmanson Theatre at the Music Center.
