Shaw began his life in the arts as a music critic. While relishing the music of Mozart and Beethoven, he encouraged his readers to embrace the modern composers of the day, including Wagner, Elgar, R. Strauss, and Dvorak. Each year GTG presents a concert with at least one classical piece, one of the composers he had championed, and a new piece.
GTG's SHAW NEW YORK festivals are an annual event in New York. This year, the festival included the co-production of Shaw's MAJOR BARBARA at The Pearl Theatre Company, which closed on December 14th. The festival also included a Critic Symposium, a Shaw Symposium and the reading of one of the new plays commissioned by GTG. This year, the play will be performed on Monday December 22nd as part of GTG's monthly series, PROJECT SHAW. Journalist David Cote of TIME OUT NEW YORK wrote this play, OTHERLAND.
OTHERLAND will be performed on Monday December 22nd, 7pm at Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street. Tickets are $30: 212.864.5400 or SymphonySpace.org
