The World Premiere of Fengar Gael's The House on Poe Street opened on October 27th at the 14th Street Y Theatre. The production runs until November 12th and is produced by Yonder Window Theatre Company. Artistic Director Katie McHugh, directs, with original music composed by Sheilah Rae.

The play was inspired by Gael's fondness for lurid tales of the supernatural as well as the city's obsession with the escalating price of real estate and the discovery of Edgar Allan Poe Street on West 84th Street, between Broadway and Riverside Drive.

Gothic ghosts encounter modern monstrosities when twin sisters inherit the house where Poe is reputed to have composed The Raven. In The House on Poe Street a wealthy estate lawyer learns to appreciate Poe's macabre spirit while questioning his own presumptions of wealth, gender parity and the power of poetry to conjure visions of a spectral afterlife.

The cast includes Tamara Geisler (Digna/Planet Connections), Gregory Jensen (Father Brendan Flynn/Doubt: A Parable), Laura E. Johnston (CLOVER/La MaMa),

Daniel Light (Incognito/NYU Playwrights Horizons Theater School), Olivia Nice (Fool for Love/Princeton), Gadi Rubin (Bull/CBS), and Eliza Shea (originated the role of Margie, opposite Alan Cumming, in Me and the Girls: A Noël Coward Musical).

The creative team includes scenic design by Pei-Wen Huang-Shea, sound design by Robert Gonyo, lighting design by Isaac Weisselberg, and costume design by Alice Giacconi. The production is being co-presented by the Theater at the 14th Street Y.

Performances take place at the 14th Street Y Theatre, 344 East 14th Street (between 1st and 2nd Avenues), New York, NY 10003. Subway: L train to 1st Avenue. Tickets are $18.00 and are available at www.yonderwindow.co - Running time 85 minutes, no intermission.
