Photo Flash: First Look at Mykal Kilgore and More in FREEDOM RIDERS at NYMF

New York Musical Festival (NYMF) presents FREEDOM RIDERS from July 27th through August 2nd at June Havoc Theatre (312 W 36th St #1, New York, NY 10018). The official opening is set for Wednesday, July 27th, at 8PM. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

FREEDOM RIDERS: a new musical tells the story of Civil Rights activists as they risk their lives riding interstate buses in the extremely segregated South. Their end goal: to bring attention to the injustice of segregation in an action that would show the world an image of 'burning bus America' whose existence most Americans wanted to ignore.

J. Scott Lapp (Director) currently serves as the artistic director of The Barn Stage Company in California. He recently worked on The Old Globe's production of 'Rain' and directed the international production of the off-broadway hit 'Murder for Two.' Jon Rua (Choreographer) is currently playing Charles Lee/Hamilton u/s on Broadway in Hamilton. Other Broadway credits include Jesus Pena (Hands on a Hardbody), Sonny & Graffiti Pete (In The Heights), as well as many Off-Broadway, Regional, Film and TV credits. Bill Brown (Musical Director) served as Music Director for new works many times at the Academy for New Musical Theatre and Walt Disney Imagineering Creative Entertainment, and he recently arranged and produced a brand new a cappella holiday show for Celebrity Cruises Productions, where he serves as Lead Vocal Director. Richard Allen works in Hollywood as a feature film and television writer/director and producer. Taran Gray is a songwriter and music producer who has worked with artists across multiple labels (EPIC, Motown, Crissy Field Records and Universal). Just this year, Richard Allen and Taran Gray created a new musical show for Disney XD called 'Second Star' starring Clayton Snyder from Disney's 'Lizzie McGuire.'
