Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston brings its triumphant 45th anniversary season to a close August 8-18 with Alain Boublil, Claude-Michel Schönberg and Herbert Kretzmer's revolutionary pop opera, LES MISERABLES. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the production below!
Reagle Music Theatre's new production of this sumptuous and exciting classic is directed by Broadway's David Hugo, who performed in the Broadway, National, and International Companies for more than ten years. The star-studded cast includes Ivan Rutherford,* who has performed the role of Jean Valjean more than 2000 times on Broadway and across the country. The show also features Broadway vocal coach Doug Jabara* (an IRNE Award nominee for Reagle's Oklahoma!) as Javert and Tony Award nominee and Theatre World Award winner Maureen Brennan* (Broadway's Candide, New York Shakespeare Festival's Pirates of Penzance) as Mme. Thénardier.
Three-time IRNE Award winner Dan Rodriguez is music director, and IRNE Award winner Jeffrey P. Leonard conducts the production's 15-piece orchestra. Scenic design is by Robert Klingelhoefer of Maine State Music Theatre and the Fulton Theatre, with lighting design by Elliot Norton Award winner David Wilson and costumes by Kansas City Costumes.
The cast of 43 also includes Rick Sherburne as Thénardier, Ross Brown as Marius, Angela Richardson as Fantine, Mara Wilson as Éponine, Kathryn McKellar as Cosette, David Carney as Enjolras, Danny Harrington as Gavroche, and Emma Schaufus and Eowyn Young alternating as Young Cosette and Young Éponine. The ensemble includes Allegra Borak, Brad Reinking, Christopher A. King, Christopher Brindley, Daniel Forest Sullivan, Danny Meglio, Eva Rae Costanza, Isabelle Miller, Jacob Sherburne, James Forbes Sheehan, Jean- Alfred Chavier, Kami Rushell Smith,* Kelly Naugler, Kelton Washington, Maritza Bostic, Matt Phillipps, Megan Alicia, Meryl Galaid, Michael Anthony Russo, Miles Henry Petrie, Peter Mill, Phil Tayler,* Regina Lucas, Rishi Basu, Sean Harrington, Serge Clivio, Susan Conkey, Terry Donilon, Valeska Cambron, Zach McGrath, and Zaven Ovian.
Performances of LES MISERABLES are August 8, 10-11 and 18 at 2 p.m.; and August 9 and 15-17 at 7:30 p.m. The press opening is Friday, August 9 at 7:30 p.m.
