Betrayed by authorities and forced to survive no matter the cost, ONAJE opens in the 1980s with an explosive encounter that threatens to uncover long-buried secrets from a desperate past. Written by Robert Bowie, Jr., directed by Pat Golden, and produced by Susan Conover Marinello, ONAJE will run for five performances, October 13 - 21, in New York City. Three performances have already sold-out, October 13, 20 and 21.
In ONAJE, an eccentric hitchhiker, a headstrong cowboy and spirited waitress discover they're all inextricably linked by the past.
Set against the backdrop of the Cambridge race riots on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in July 1967, ONAJE is an exploration of buried secrets and the journey through the darkest of human souls. This new play is set in two worlds: the open road of the 1980s, and a burning neighborhood in 1967, where a young man, his family and his soul come face to face with the crushing hatred of racism. ONAJE is a journey to understand the past and find a way forward toward a new future.
The ONAJE cast includes Adetnuke Adetunji, Adam Couperthwaite, John Dewey, Mary E. Hodges, Curtis M. Jackson, Sheila Joon Ostadazim, Bristol Pomeroy, Tim Rush, and Jay Ward.
