Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, Artistic Director; Jeffory Lawson, Managing Director) presents the world premiere of Academy Award® winning film maker Ethan Coen's HAPPY HOUR, directed by Atlantic Artistic Director Neil Pepe (Speed-the-Plow). The ensemble cast features Cassie Beck, Aya Cash, Clark Gregg, Susan Hyon, Rock Kohli, Gordon MacDonald, Amanda Quaid, Ana Reeder, Joey Slotnick and Lenny Venito. Previews began Wednesday, November 16 toward an official opening on Monday, December 5. The limited engagement runs through Saturday, December 31, 2011 off-Broadway at Signature Theatre Company's Peter Norton Space (552 West 42nd Street between 10th and 11th Avenue) while Atlantic's main stage continues its renovation.

Academy Award® winner Ethan Coen returns to Atlantic with the world premiere of three one-act comedies, following the success of his hit productions Almost an Evening and Offices. In HAPPY HOUR, an embittered barfly has a theory-or two-about what the world has become. A lonely young man and lonely young woman can't see how right they are for each other. His motel room is so ugly a business traveler wants to end it all. Your life could be worse-and these three one-act comedies show you how.

Ethan Coen made his Off-Broadway debut with the acclaimed world premiere of Almost an Evening, which transferred Off-Broadway following a sold out extended Atlantic Stage 2 run and the world premiere of Offices. Coen has made fifteen movies with his brother Joel, including the Academy Award® winning films No Country for Old Men and Fargo; O Brother, Where Art Thou?; Raising Arizona; Barton Fink; The Hudsucker Proxy, The Big Lebowski, Burn After Reading and True Grit. He is currently represented on Broadway with Relatively Speaking, an evening of one-act comedies also by Elaine May and Woody Allen, directed by John Turturro.

Atlantic artistic director Neil Pepe directed Ethan Coen's world premiere hit comedies Almost an Evening and Offices at Atlantic. He recently staged Atlantic's world premiere production of Adam Rapp's Dreams of Flying, Dreams of Falling now playing at Classic Stage Company. He made his acclaimed Broadway debut with the hit revival of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow followed by Mamet's A Life in the Theatre. He also recently staged Jez Butterworth's Parlour Song, David Pittu's world premiere comedy What's That Smell: The Music of Jacob Sterling, Harold Pinter's first and most recent plays, The Room and Celebration and the world premiere of Mamet's Romance at Atlantic and at the Mark Taper Forum.

Cassie Beck recently appeared in the Atlantic world premiere production of Bekah Brunstetter's play Oohrah!. Aya Cash last appeared at Atlantic in Ethan Coen's comedy Offices. Atlantic founding member Clark Gregg has been featured in the blockbuster feature film Iron Man franchise, starred in the long running hit series "The New Adventures of Old Christine" and has appeared on Broadway in A Few Good Men. Susan Hyon has appeared Off Broadway in The Crane Story and in Romeo & Juliet at The Public Theatre's Shakespeare in the Park. Rock Kohli has appeared Off Broadway in Private Wars. Gordon MacDonald received a Lucille Lortel nomination for his performance in Trumbo Off-Broadway and has been featured in the television series "Saving Grace" and in the feature film The Brave One. Amanda Quaid appeared on Broadway in the recent revival of Equus and Off Broadway in Tony Kushner's play The Illusion.
Ana Reeder's recent Broadway credits include Hedda Gabler and Top Girls and she has appeared Off Broadway in Humble Boy. Lookingglass Theatre Co. member Joey Slotnick starred in both Ethan Coen world premiere comedies Almost an Evening and Offices and has appeared on the television series "Pushing Daisies" and "Boston Public." Lenny Venito's television credits include recurring roles on "The Sopranos" and "Rescue Me," and he is currently featured on the HBO series "Bored to Death"

HAPPY HOUR features scenic design by Riccardo Hernandez, costume design by Sarah Edwards, lighting design by Jason Lyons and sound design by David Van Tieghem.
