The Emelin Theatre's gala dinner on October 11 celebrated the official public launch of "The Next Stage," Emelin's $10 million renovation project.
The dinner, which was held at Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle, introduced the Emelin's new Artistic Director Michael Bush and honored several stars of New York theatre, including Emmy Award-winning actress and singer Leslie Uggams and Tony Award-nominated actress Tovah Feldshuh. Uggams most recently appeared on Broadway opposite James Earl Jones in the revival of Ernest Thompson's On Golden Pond. Feldshuh starred in Golda's Balcony, the longest-running one-woman show in the history of Broadway. The Emelin also previewed two performances – one from the new festival that is being launched in mid-November and another from a spring musical – which showcased the type of additional programming that the Emelin will be launching.
"The Next Stage" $10 million renovation project will more than double the size of the existing structure and allow the theatre to significantly expand its offerings. More than 40% of the $10 million goal for The Next Stage has already been raised. The Emelin Theatre is a non-profit performing arts center in Mamaroneck.
