On Monday, September 13, two-time Tony nominee Christopher Fitzgerald took to the Broadway at Birdland concert stage, along with his musical partner and accompanist, David Turner.  The evening was presented by Jim Caruso.

Fitzgerald put together an insanely varied and dazzlingly entertaining show, thanks to some of his chums: Cole Porter, Ben Folds, and Gonzo.  The crowd enjoyed such classic fare as "When I'm Not Near The Girl I Love" and "Something to Live For," and some loony fare like "Josephina, Please No Lean-a On The Bell," and the hilarious "Frankfurter Sandwiches."

Christopher Fitzgerald recently starred in the Broadway revival of Finian's Rainbow as Og, the lovesick leprechaun, for which he won the Drama Desk award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical.  He was also nominated for a Tony and Outer Critics Circle Award for that role.  Other Broadway credits include Young Frankenstein (Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle Award nominations), Wicked, and Amour (Drama Desk Award nomination).  Christopher most recently starred in the Williamstown Theatre Festival production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.  Directed by his wife, Jessica Stone, it marked the first all-male production of Stephen Sondheim's classic musical.  Christopher currently resides in New York city in a much too small apartment with his wife Jessica Stone and their two sons Charlie and Emmett.

David Turner is stepping out of his usual role as an actor to accompany friend and Tony-nominee Christopher Fitzgerald at Birdland.  In addition to two Helen Hayes Award nominations for his acting work, David received BMI's prestigious Jerry Harrington Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement as a composer/lyricist.  He received his B.A. from Williams College and holds a CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) from Cambridge University.  He is himself a student of French, Italian, and Japanese.  Broadway: Sunday in the Park with George, The Ritz, In My Life, The Invention of Love.
