Today, Monday, May 15, would have been L. Frank Baum's 150th Birthday. Baum, a Chicagoan and author of The Wizard of Oz, is also the namesake for Wicked's own leading witch, Elphaba.

In honor of this milestone, the cast of Chicago's Wicked took time immediately following Sunday's matinee to celebrate the occasion backstage with a specially made and deliciously 'green' birthday cake. Wicked stars Kristy Cates as Elphaba, Stacie Morgain Lewis as Glinda, Carole Shelley as Madame Morrible, Gene Weygandt as The Wizard, Heidi Kettenring as Nessarose, Telly Leung as Boq, Timothy Britten Parker as Doctor Dillamond and Kristoffer Cusick as Fiyero.

Chicago's record-breaking production of Wicked continues its open-ended run at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre. Tickets range in price from range in price from $25 to $85 and are currently on sale at all Broadway In Chicago Box Offices (24 W. Randolph St. and 151 W. Randolph St.), through the Broadway In Chicago Ticket Line at (312) 902-1400, at all Ticketmaster ticket centers or online at ticketmaster.com.
