The award-winning Broadway at Birdland concert series and Jim Caruso's Cast Party have been constants on the New York scene for the past eleven years. Every week, performers from the Great White Way and beyond are showcased in the concert series, followed by the always-extreme open mic.

This past week, singer Spencer Day and his extraordinary band stormed the Birdland stage to celebrate the new cd, "Daybreak." Then, Caruso, Billy Stritch and the Cast Party Symphony Orchestra (Steve Doyle and Daniel Glass) took over, entertaining a packed house along with Art Garfunkel, Carol Woods, Marilyn Maye, Charlie MacEachern (celebrating his own cd, "Hooks In Me"), and The Boy Band Project, four wildly talented guys who sing acoustic arrangements of beloved pop tunes! Trevor McQueen put together an especially great Mentor Monday, with Broadway's Anika Larsen (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) singing a gorgeous Jacob Tischler composition, with Matt Aument at the piano. The stage was overrun with ridiculously talented Australian guys, between Linden Furnell, Alex Hopkins, and James Wright. Christian Lund came all the way from Denmark to croon a John Bucchino tune. There were duets by Kitty Luce and Art Garfunkel, a standard belted by Kesinee Haney, hilarity from Christine Lavin and a performance from Birdland staffer Jon Grunert, who made his Cast Party debut!
