In 1857, prehistoric Mastodon bones were discovered in Baisley Pond Park. In celebration of this historic archeological find, Queens Parks, the Urban Park Rangers and Council Member Thomas White Jr. hosted the "Bones of Baisley" with more than 275 attendees.

The  Museum of Natural History's Moveable Museum came to Southern Queens and kids could do their own archaelogical study at the Dinosaur Bone Dig. Other activities included an Urban Park Ranger-led scavenger hunt, a hip hop dance contest, inflatables and dinosaur themed arts and crafts.
