Photo Flash: Ben Vereen Reunites With PIPPIN Cast on National Tour

On Thursday Evening, October 30th, there was certainly "Magic to Do" backstage at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre. Ben Vereen, the original "Leading Player" in the 1972 Broadway production of PIPPIN, visited with the cast backstage after watching the performance. Ben was reunited with his original "Pippin", actor John Rubinstein ("Charles"), with whom Ben appeared in the original Broadway production helmed by Bob Fosse. Actors pictured with Ben are Tony-Winner Andrea Martin ("Berthe") Matthew James Thomas ("Pippin"), Sasha Allen ("Leading Player") and more! Check out the photos below!

PIPPIN is the most nominated Broadway show of the 2013 Season, having received 10 Tony Award nominations including Best Musical Revival with 6 Drama Desk Award nominations, 11 Outer Critics Circle Award nominations and 3 Drama League Award nominations. PIPPIN features a book by Roger O. Hirson and music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz.

Royal heir Pippin is spurred on by a mysterious group of performers to embark on a death-defying journey to find his "corner of the sky." The original production of Pippin, directed by Bob Fosse, premiered on Broadway in 1972. It won five Tony Awards and five Drama Desk Awards, and ran for close to 2000 performances before closing in 1977. This production of PIPPIN made its debut at American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) in Cambridge, MA, where Diane Paulus serves as Artistic Director; December 5, 2012 to January 20, 2013. PIPPIN is noted for many Broadway standards including "Corner of the Sky," "Magic To Do," "Glory," "No Time at All," "Morning Glow," and "Love Song."

The performance schedule forPIPPIN is Tuesday through Friday at 8:00pm, Saturday at 2pm & 8pm, and Sunday at 1pm & 6:30pm. Recommended for Ages 9 and Up. (Everyone must have a ticket; children under 5 will not be admitted to the theatre) Running Time: 2 hours and 35 minutes including intermission. Tickets start at $25 in the orchestra.
