The mega-blockbuster hit musical Wicked was back and flying on Broadway yesterday night, Thursday November 29 at The Gershwin Theatre (222 West 51st Street). The audience cheered when Glinda, sparkling in her bubble, descended onto the stage and asked: "It's good to see me, isn't it?"
Plus, the musical has added an extra performance this Sunday December 2 at 8PM. Proceeds from this special performance will benefit The Actors Fund, the national non-profit organization that provides help and support for everyone in the entertainment industry.
Stephanie J. Block (Elphaba) and Annaleigh Ashford (Glinda) lead a cast which also
includes Carole Shelley as Madame Morrible, Lenny Wolpe as The Wizard,
Sebastian Arcelus as Fiyero, Cristy Candler as Nessarose, Logan Lipton
as Boq, and Steven Skybell as Dr. Dillamond.
Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.
