Photo Coverage: Times Square Salutes Music Legend B.B. King

As BroadwayWorld reported last week, legendary singer and guitarist B.B. King, known as the "King of the Blues" passed away on May 14th in Las Vegas at the age of 89. The news was announced by his attorney. On May 1st, King revealed that he had entered hospice care after being in poor health for an extended period.

The GUITAR Museum issued the following statement on the passing of King:

"We are incredibly saddened to learn of the death of B.B. King. There are few guitarists in the history of the instrument who have single-handedly increased its popularity around the world as much as Riley B. King."

"The National GUITAR Museum awarded B.B. our "Lifetime Achievement Award" in 2012, and his contribution to the legacy of the guitar is among the most notable of any guitarist in any genre."

"The world of the guitar has lost one of its greatest ambassadors. He is already missed."
