Photo Coverage: Stecher and Horowitz Foundation Gala Honors MSM President & Others

As with all Stecher and Horowitz events it's all about the music and helping gifted young pianists navigate the demanding career they have chosen. This years annual gala at the legendary architectural landmark University Club in New York City was attended by some of New York's most respected and accomplished citizens who share the Foundation's mission and who have a love of classical music.

Dr. James Gandre, President of Manhattan School of Music, Mark S. Rudd, and Charles v. Schaefer lll were honored last night at the Gala which benefits The Stecher and Horowitz Foundation. The Foundation founded by famed concert pianists Melvin Stecher and Norman Horowitz is an outgrowth of the Stecher and Horowitz School of the Arts founded in 1960. The Stecher and Horowitz Foundation serves as an incubator of talent in the world of classical music. It acts as a conduit to discover, uncover, and present these remarkable young pianists to an audience awaiting the latest musical gems to be unearthed. This concept was inspired by the inquisitive faces passing through the door of the original Stecher and Horowitz School of the Arts. Concerned about the road that lay ahead for many aspiring musicians trained, it was realized the next chapter in the foundation's mission was the need to serve as mentors through the flagship programs. Kate Liu & Michael Brown two extraordinary pianists thrilled the audience and William S. Hearst, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation in addition to his other duties led a lively live auction. The road may be tough for classical musicians but Stretcher and Horowitz help eliminate some of the bumps and curves.
