On October 10th, Joe's Pub exploded with talent for Standing Ovations 2.
BroadwayWorld.com, the premiere theater site on the web was proud to present Standing Ovations 2, a benefit concert for Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS on October 10, 2004, 6:30 PM at Joe's Pub.
Hosted by Scott Nevins of Therapy's "Scott Nevins Presents" Standing Ovations 2 Featured: Scott Alan, Michael Arden, Becca Ayers, Neil Berg, Liz Callaway. Matt Cavenaugh, Miguel Cervantes, Rob Evan, Mandy Gonzalez. Jenna Leigh Green, Ellen Greene, Cheyenne Jackson, Brian Lowdermilk, Michael McKean, Raymond McLeod, Euan Morton, Larry O'Keefe, Erin Leigh Peck, Billy Porter, Randy Redd, Alice Ripley, Jai Rodriguez, Rena Strober, Toxic Audio, Eddie Varley, and more...
The concert was directed by Jamie McGonnigal with musical direction from Mark Hartman.
Toxic Audio kicked things off with "One Night Only"
which set the tone for the evening...
... and then raced from our stages to theirs to perform
in "Loudmouth"
Charming and witty host for the evening,
Scott Nevins!
Scott kept the evening moving and entertained the
audiences with class!
Billy Porter set the bar with his rousing rendition of
"And The World Goes Round"
Which had the audiences screaming for more....
and more is what they got when
Alice Ripley hit the stage..
and belted a stirring "Applause"
Cheyenne Jackson was up next with "Something's Coming"
The always beautiful and talented
Erin Leigh Peck
treated audiences to "Come Rain or Come Shine"
Larry O'Keefe (Bat Boy, and the upcoming
Legally Blonde)
sets up the new song he wrote for Bat Boy for the West End.
This marked the American debut of "Mine, All Mine"
Becca Ayers and
Miguel Cervantes share a love they
can never destroy as they sing Mine, All Mine.
Becca offers her arm (and blood) to the hungry Bat Boy
The impassioned on-stage couple
Both Becca and Miguel hitting their money notes!
Rena Strober ("The Songbird from Rao's" currently appearing
at Don't Tell Mama in "Spaghetti and Matzo Balls") sings
the humorous "Never" from On The Twentieth Century.
Rob Evan (with composer
Neil Berg at piano) sings the
stirring "Roxanne" from "The Man Who Would Be King"
BroadwayWorld.com fave, Mandy Gonzales brought
thunderous applause to Joe's Pub with "Wallflower"

diddy "I Am In Love"
Not JUST a pretty face!
Tony Award-winning composer
Marc Shaiman gets
into his Frank Sinatra mode to sing a song from the
upcoming "Catch Me If You Can" musical he and partner
Scott Wittman are working on...
"Fifty Checks"
The uber-talented
Michael McKean sings "Sweeney Todd" - a
folk song that was written 75 years before Sondheim was born...
Making a surprise appearance (which had the crowd up
on their feet before she finished walking to the mic) was
the incomparable
Ellen Greene!
Ellen sang a very emotional, "Somewhere That's Green" - a
song she made infamous in "Little Shop of Horrors"
After a LENGTHY standing ovation (naturally), Ellen invited
the audience to join her in Suddenly Seymour.
Act One ended with another standing ovation for Ellen which
went on..and on.. and on...
Jai Rodriguez (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy) kicks
off Act Two by helping director

how to be "Popular"
...and even does a little magic with his Zanna Don't wand!

play the sexy and double entendre-filled original tune "Banjo Daddy"
from an upcoming musical they are working on together.
Stage legend,
Liz Callaway sings the sweet lullabye, "Goodnight"
written (and accompanied on piano) by composer
Scott Alan.
Michael Arden sings the emotionally charged, "How Glory Goes"
Jai takes over the stage and talks about how it "sucks to
to be single" in New York City...
...interrupting Jai's lament,
Cheyenne Jackson begins
the infamous "Elephant Love Medley" from Moulin Rouge

The finish to the romantic duet....
and embrace in a passionate kiss to screams and
deafening applause!
Closing the show with her signature song,

performs the triumphant, "Meadowlark"
