On Friday night, March 30th, Terrence McNally (and his partner Tom Kirdahy) introduced Second Stage Theatre to his newest play, Some Men and host some special guests - Marian Seldes, Nathan Lane and Marin Mazzie, among others - at a pre-performance supper at Etcetera, Etcetera (352 W. 44th St.). Afterwards, the cast joined the theatre company for dessert and conversation at a post-show reception.
The event was held for SAGE (Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders).
Tony Award-winner McNally (Deuce, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, Ragtime, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Master Class) writes in a statement: "The spirit of SAGE runs throughout Some Men. Indeed, my partner Tom is convinced that one scene in particular was born when we both received SAGE Awards a few years ago (mine was for Lifetime Achievement and Tom's for Political Activism). Some Men looks at same-sex life and love against a background of some of the NY events that have shaped the last century of our lives - from the Harlem Renaissance through Stonewall to today. And it pays particular attention to the inter-generational challenges today that we must face and embrace as a community. "
