The beloved Broadway tradition continued yesterday, June 11, as Sardi's added a caricature of Hal Luftig to its legendary walls. Friends including Jerry Mitchell, Billy Porter, Roger Rees, Rick Elice, William Ivey Long, Lawrence O'Keefe, Nell Benjamin, Marc Shaiman, Charlotte St. Martin, Charlotte Wilcox, Orfeh, Ted Chapin and more came to celebrate the special event, and BroadwayWorld brings you photos from the festivities below!
Winner of four Tony Awards and London's Olivier Award, Hal Luftig has worked on and off Broadway for the past 25 years. Broadway: Evita, Catch Me If You Can, Come Fly Away, West Side Story, All My Sons, Legally Blonde, The Times They Are A-Changin', Whoopi,Movin' Out, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Annie Get Your Gun, High Society, The Diary of Anne Frank, The King and I, Moon Over Buffalo, Angels in America, Jelly's Last Jam, The Secret Garden. He is currently developing the new musical The Last Goodbye, an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet featuring the music of Jeff Buckley. Hal has an MFA from Columbia University and an ulcer from tension.
