With its landmark home at Guild Hall of East Hampton undergoing massive renovations under the master architect Robert A.M. Stern, Josh Gladstone, the John Drew Theatre's Artistic Director, has taken his band of actors and designers on the road, so to speak.
This week, they opened a hilarious new production of Steve Martin's award winning Picasso at the Lapin Agile in the cavernous soundstage of East Hampton Studios. With Gladstone at the helm – and portraying the role of Einstein with exuberant wackiness – the airplane hangar sized studio was transformed by lighting designer Sebastian Paczynski and set designer Nicole Coppinger into an intimate turn of the century Parisian café for the fictional meeting of the two great minds of the last century, Picasso and Albert Einstein. Thecast includes: Joe De Sane, Gerard Doyle, Nick Fondulis, Ann Moller, Kate Mueth, Josh Perl, Jonathan Peters and Kameron Steele.
