A host of multimedia stars, including such theatre luminaries as Bernadette Peters, Dina Merrill, Tony Danza and Marge Champion, turned out to honor legendary television producer Merv Griffin in a Museum of Television and Radio gala on May 26th at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.
Griffin, the creator and producer of such game show as Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, started his career as a singer and later served often as a substitute host on the Tonight
Show before Johnny Carson took over. He also had his own daytime talk show for many years. "Merv Griffin is a unique force in the world of
entertainment and media, combining his talents as a singer, performer
and television personality with his skill as a business leader and
entrepreneur. He's truly a living legend," stated museum president Stuart N. Brotman.
