Yesterday, June 5, theatre legend Patti LuPone opened the new nightclub and restaurant, 54 Below, with a two-week engagement of a new act that will run through June 16. LuPone will play the venue Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8pm and Fridays and Saturdays at 11pm. In honor of the grand opening, LuPone treated the press to a special sneak peek of the show and BroadwayWorld was there!
54 Below, Broadway’s nightclub, is the new performance venue in the grand tradition of New York City nightlife. The initial line-up of Broadway talent scheduled ot appear at 54 Below also includes Andrea Martin, Ben Vereen, Marin Mazzie, Christine Ebersole, Megan Hilty, Brian d'Arcy James, Linda Lavin, Victor Garber, Leslie Uggams, Rebecca Luker, Sherie Renee Scott, Darlene Love, Jackie Hoffman, Mx Justin Vivian Bond, Ann Hampton Callaway, Liz Callaway, Alison Fraser, Lea DeLaria, Andrea McArdle, Christine Andreas, and Debbie Gravitte.
Designed by Tony Award winner John Lee Beatty and architect Richard Lewis, lit by Tony Award winner Ken Billington, and with sound by Tony Award nominee Peter Hylenski, Tony Award winner Scott Wittman serves as creative consultant and MAC Award Winner Phil Geoffrey Bond serves as director of programming.
