Stephen Sondheim's "Passion" was presented from March 30th through April 1st as part of the American Songbook season and BroadwayWorld was there. The concert, held at Jazz at
Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall starred Patti LuPone as Fosca, Michael Cerveris as Giorgio and Audra McDonald as Clara. Other featured players included Alexander Gemignani as Lieutenant Torasso, Kate Baldwin as the Mistress, Allen Fitzpatrick as Colonel Ricci, Richard Easton as Doctor Tambourri, Devin Richards as Lieutenant Barri, James Clow as Major Rizzolli, Timothy Gulan as Sergeant Lombardi, John Sloman as Lieutenant Augenti, Gina Ferrall as Fosca's Mother, John Cunningham as Fosca's Father and George Dvorsky as Ludovic.
Passion won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1994 and Donna Murphy took home her first Tony for her role as Fosca. Sondheim and Lapine also took home awards that year.
