The Wedding Singer is based on the 1998 film, which starred Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. The show features music by Matthew Sklar, with lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and a book by Tim Herlihy and Chad Beguelin. John Rando directs the musical, while Tony Award-winner Rob Ashford is behind the choreography. The Wedding Singer also features sets by Scott Pask, costumes by Gregory Gale, lighting by Brian MacDevitt and sound by Peter Hylenski. Margo Lion, New Line Cinema, The 5th Avenue Theatre, The Araca Group, Douglas Meyer, James D. Stern, Roy Furman, Rick Steiner, JAM Theatricals, Michael Gill, Dr. Lawrence Horowitz and Jujamcyn Theaters are on board as producers.
