ONCE AROUND THE SUN is a new musical featuring a score by Robert Morris, Steven Morris, Joe Shane and a book by Kellie Overbey currently playing the Zipper Theatre (336 West 37th Street) through September 18th. An invitation from a beautiful stranger offers a struggling New York musician the opportunity to escape his disappointments and take a leap of faith into his dream …but at the risk of betraying family, life-long friends and true love. Seduced by his desire to finally be heard, he makes some unexpected choices and ultimately discovers the flight to glory is nothing like he could have ever imagined. With an original score that includes rock, pop and swing, ONCE AROUND THE SUN takes an honest, intimate and irreverent look at one man's efforts to define himself as an artist and find his voice as a human being.

Directed by Jace Alexander, ONCE AROUND THE SUN features Asa Somers (Taboo), Maya Days (Aida), Caren Lyn Manuel (Brooklyn) Emmy Award winner Kevin Mambo ("Guiding Light"), John Hickok (Aida, Parade) and Jesse Lenat (Rent) and Wes Little (Scorcese's Lighting in a Bottle). The scenic design is by Beowulf Borritt; costume design by Daniel Lawson; lighting design by Jason Lyons; and sound design by T. Richard Fitzgerald. Henry Aronson is the Musical Director. David Spinozza is the Musical Supervisor.

ONCE AROUND THE SUN plays a 8-week limited engagement through September 18th at the Zipper Theatre (336 West 37th Street). The official opening night is Thursday, August 11th. Performances are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 8:00PM; Saturday at 5:00PM and 9:00PM; Sunday at 3:00 and 7:00PM. Via Subway, take the A/C/E or 1/2/3/9 trains to 34th Street.
