Ascension, by Edmund De Santis, opened at Off-Broadway's The Lion Theatre (Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street) on October 11th; it plays a limited engagement through November 12th.
Ascension is directed by Red Light District artistic director Marc Geller and stars Stephen Hope (Joseph..., The Scarlet Pimpernel), Lucy McMichael (More Than This at Urban Stages) and Brandon Ruckdashel (My Super Ex-Girlfriend). Ascension is "about an ambitious Catholic priest struggle to hold together the fabric of the world he has created to keep his desires at bay. He is confronted by the schizophrenic wife of a butcher, who accuses him of sexually abusing her son eight years earlier. Then drawn into a web of evil and deceit comes a visit by the angelic young man, himself; and now their worlds unfolds with a volcano of desire that is close to exploding," according to production notes.
