Jones recently was chosen as the recipient of a Special Tony Award for writing and starring in the one-woman show Bridge & Tunnel, in which she plays a mosaic of ethnically diverse women. LaChanze is currently Tony-nominated for her role of Celie in The Color Purple; she was previously nominated for her work in Once On This Island.
