On September 22nd, the New York Musical Theatre Festival offered its own spin on the popular reality talent show as part of the the second installment of "NYMF Broadway Idol" at New World Stages.
Performers--who were chosen after an open call on September 11th and who then performed in "Broadway Idol" Round One on September 15th--each sang a Stephen Sondheim song of their choice. Performances were critiqued by a panel of celebrity judges that included: Marin Mazzie, Lonny Price, Chip Zien and host Seth Rudetsky.Three contestants were eliminated: Shannon Amiry, Elizabeth DeRosa, and Beth Kirkpatrick. The remaining three are Jaclyn Huberman, Jamieson Lindenburg and Katie Thompson. The final three will perform in the final round on September 29th, and the winner will be crowned. The Broadway Idol will be featured exclusively in a concert at Ars Nova to be produced by NYMF.
