The Sweet Charity revival has been beset with obstacles, and made it to Broadway despite an announcement of cancellation from its producers, Barry and Fran Weissler. Star Christina Applegate broke her ankle during a tryout performance in Chicago, and was replaced by understudy Charlotte D'Amboise for the show's Boston engagement. D'Amboise played the title role of the sassy-but-vulnerable taxi dancer during early previews, but a recovered Applegate has been performing her star turn since April 18th and will open in the show in time for Tony voting deadlines.
