Countess Antoinette Guerrini-Maraldi welcomed guests into her home for a relaxed luncheon and a chance to chat with LAMDA alumnus Stacy Keach, currently appearing in the acclaimed Broadway production of Other Desert Cities. Stacy and wife Malgosia mingled with supporters of LAMDA in America who relished hearing stories of his time training at LAMDA alongside fellow alumnus Brian Cox CBE.

Stacy won his place to attend LAMDA through a Fulbright Scholarship, and recalled the warm spirit of community and camaraderie at the Academy, as well as the excellent teachers who provided a formative, classical training that has served him well throughout a long and varied career.

A lively discussion was enjoyed by all, and especially highlighted was the great need for providing scholarship funding to invest in talented young students, like Stacy, who after experiencing the intensity and breadth of a LAMDA classical training may go on to forge tremendous careers and bring a richness to the dramatic arts on both sides of the Atlantic.

LAMDA – The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art – has been at the forefront of teaching the communication of spoken English and drama training for 150 years. LAMDA seeks to provide the best vocational training in the dramatic arts by nurturing the talent of the individual and contributing to the advancement and exploration of the dramatic art form. LAMDA believes the arts should be accessible to everyone and seeks to engage with the largest number of people from the broadest range of backgrounds in the execution of its work. LAMDA is both a training institution and a resource for artistic development for the student and the art form.

For over 50 years LAMDA has enjoyed a vibrant relationship with North America, and LAMDA in America, an American non-profit, aims to foster and encourage the performing arts by supporting a rich cross-cultural, trans-Atlantic exchange of students, work, and ideas. Providing scholarships, maintaining a reciprocal relationship with American Universities, conservatoires, theatres and other organizations is of the utmost, to provide a strong cross-fertilization.
