Yesterday, April 11, Garnier brought some of NYC's most fabulous Broadway dancers, The Cagelles, to Times Square to mark the inaugural stop of their Cleaner Greener Tour. The Cagelles posed for photos exploring the tour bus, recycling old beauty products and checking out Garnier's new Pure Clean line of biodegradable shampoo and conditioner. BroadwayWorld was on hand for the event and brings you photo coverage below.
Garnier is the first to provide a comprehensive solution to personal care and beauty packaging waste anywhere in the world - no small feat considering that personal care and beauty products account for 1/3 of all landfill waste. Millions of pieces of waste are expected to be collected by Garnier during the tour which kicks off in Times Square in New York City and will continue on into Cincinnati, Nashville, Fort Worth, Detroit and New Orleans.
In addition to diverting packaging from landfills, the Personal Care and Beauty Brigade (individuals or groups who sign up to fundraise) will help to recruit new members and to educate communities about how they can mobilize to make a difference. For every unit of waste collected, Garnier will contribute two cents to the charity of the collector's choice. As part of a larger corporate responsibility program, Garnier will repurpose all collected cosmetics packaging, reusing it to build eco-friendly playgrounds across the U.S. www.garnierusa.com/pureclean.
