Kate Mulgrew and Anne-Cecilie Engell Speyer hosted Vineyard Theatre's Annual Emerging Artists Luncheon on Wednesday, September 30 from 12-2 p.m. at the National Arts Club in Manhattan. The event feautured the presentation of the 2014 and 2015 Paula Vogel Playwriting Award, respectively, to Clare Barron (YOU GOT OLDER) and Boo Killebrew (MILLER, MISSISSIPPI). Paula Vogel, whose play INDECENT premieres October 2 at Yale Rep before its debut in New York at the Vineyard Theatre in the spring, also attended.
Attending artists included Mike Bencivenga, Matthew roi Berger, Colman Domingo, Tim Drucker, Anne Kauffman, Peter Lerman, Amy Rutberg, Jenny Schwartz, Erika Sheffer, Nicky Silver, Ryan Spahn, Paula Vogel, and Sharon Washington.
Ms. Barron and Ms. Killebrew are the seventh and eighth recipients of the Paula Vogel Playwriting Award, named in honor of playwright and teacher Paula Vogel, whose plays HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE (Pulitzer Prize for Drama) and THE LONG CHRISTMAS RIDE HOME premiered at The Vineyard. The residency-based award comes with a cash prize and artistic development support.
