FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed "Best of New York" by New York Magazine, and "an invaluable New York institution" by The New York Post, continued its 10th Anniversary season with the debut of "Avenue Q" and "Shrek" star John Tartaglia on March 30th.
Tartaglia's show included "I Wish I Could Go Back To College" from "Avenue Q," "Time To Wake Up" from his Disney TV show "Johnny And The Sprites" and an original cut song from "Shrek," in addition to funny stories about his life and career. The show took place the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street). BroadwayWorld.com's cameras were there to cheer on our favorite "puppet master"!
John Tartaglia is currently starring on Broadway as "Pinocchio" in "Shrek: The Musical." He is the creator, executive producer and star of the Playhouse Disney series, "Johnny and the Sprites." John is best known for his Tony Nominated star turn as "Rod" and "Princeton" in the Tony Award Winning Musical "Avenue Q," having originated the roles Off Broadway. Prior to "Shrek," he was most recently seen on Broadway starring as "Lumiere" in Disney's "Beauty and the Beast."
A 10-year veteran of "Sesame Street," Tartaglia is one of the youngest puppeteers ever to perform on the show, starting at 16. In addition, he starred in Sesame Workshop's innovative English as a Foreign Language project, "Sesame English," which currently airs worldwide. Tartaglia has also appeared on Disney Channel's "Bear in the Big Blue House". Off Broadway and in concert, John has appeared in "Carnival" at City Center's "Encores!"; "Children of Eden" and "Pippin" in World AIDS Day benefit concerts; and at Manhattan Theater Club, Merkin Concert Hall and recently, a debut at Carnegie Hall. Additionally, Tartaglia hosted the New York Philharmonic Young People's Concerts.
