At a special event yesterday, March 5, the cast of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder announced that the production has reached the 1,000th death of its leading man, Jefferson Mays, since opening at the Walter Kerr Theatre. Mays' character dies eight times in each performance; and so, he has reached 1,000 stage deaths faster than any other Broadway actor. BroadwayWorld was there for the special celebration and you can check out photo coverage below!

Jefferson Mays plays Monty Navarro in A Gentleman's Guide. In the musical, Navarro discovers that he is long-lost member of a noble, and wealthy, family. However, before he can become the next Earl of Highhurst, Navarro has to take care of the eight family members in line before him. At the same time, he has to juggle his mistress, his fiancee, and the threat of prison.

A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder features a book by Robert L. Freedman, music by Steven Lutvak, and lyrics by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak. It was directed by Darko Tresnjak and choreographed by Peggy Hickey.

The cast also includes Bryce Pinkham, Lisa O'Hare, Lauren Worsham, Jane Carr, Pamela Bob, Joanna Glushak, Eddie Korbich, Jeff Kready, Mark Ledbetter, Jennifer Smith, Price Waldman, and Catherine Walker.
