Photo Coverage: Hound Dog Day at Dog Sees God

On February 2nd, Groundhog Day became "Hound Dog Day" as canines and their owners descended on Bert V. Royal's hit comedy Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead to be the first in line to fetch the show's new two-for-one ticket special offer. For a limited time, patrons who bring their dog -- or a photo of their dog -- to the box office of the Century Center for the Performing Arts (111 East 15th Street) can purchase two tickets (regularly priced $65 each) for the price of one. The offer is available only at the box office -- open daily (except Tuedays) at 2pm.
Dog Sees God–an "unauthorized parody" that follows the travails of "CB," America's most hapless cartoon character, all grown up–was one of the breakout hits of the 2004 New York International Fringe Festival, winning an Excellence Award for Best Overall Production, as well as Theatermania's Best Play of 2004, and the GLAAD Media Award for Best Off-Off-Broadway production.Directed by Trip Cullman, Dog Sees God features Eddie Kaye Thomas (American Pie), Eliza Dushku (Bring it On, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), America Ferrera (Real Women Have Curves, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants), Ari Graynor (Mystic River, "The Sopranos"), Logan Marshall-Green ("The O.C.," The Distance from Here, Swimming in the Shallows), Keith Nobbs (Phone Booth, Fuddy Meers, Four) and Kelli Garner (The Aviator, Man of the House). In the play, CB's beloved beagle has terminal rabies, and his world is inhabited by a comic strip parade of misfits: a missing pen pal, an abused pianist, a pyromaniac ex-girlfriend, two drunken cheerleaders, a homophobic quarterback, a burnt-out Buddhist, and a drama-queen sister. Together, these factors all contribute–Good grief!–to this modern tale of teenage angst.
