Continuing its world class artists in residence program, the renowned Hayground School presented the third annual Hayground School Creative Orchestra with acclaimed composer and artistic director Bruce Wolosoff at the helm. 37 new compositions by students and teachers created in the three week program under Wolosoff's guidance were presented in the concert.
"Hardly your typical school concert, the packed house of music lovers included Tony and Oscar winning actress Mercedes Ruehl and husband artist David Geiser applauding son Jake; Roy Scheider with his wife, actress director Brenda Siemer (they are co-founders of the school) cheering on daughter Molly, director/ composer Lukas Weinstein playing side by side with daughter Ella. There was more family ties - Max Cheng performing while dad renowned artist Philippe Cheng filmed and young Katya Wolosoff got to shine along side her famed composer dad Bruce," state press notes. Also applauding were Toni Ross, Scott and Neil Kraft, Patricia Martens, Valerie Marvin, Tinka Topping, Liz Bertsch and John Wegorzewski
"Wolosoff create works that integrate modern classical, romantic, jazz and blues forms. Acclaimed for his lush melodies, he has focused on opera in recent years, composing for the Center for Contemporary Opera in New York and members of the Royal Danish Opera."
